Forward Planning Committee Report Results

On October 18, 2016 members of the VCA Executive received the completed report from the Forward Planning Committee that included 34 pages of appendices. Once the VCA Executive had an opportunity to absorb in detail the content and recommendations of the Report, it was concluded that further study of key items in the Report was appropriate before its release to Village residents and an email to this effect was sent to Village residents on November 9, 2016.

Since that time the VCA Executive, as well as the Forward Planning Committee, have been investigating the new proposed provincial legislation with respect to incorporation. We are still in the process of evaluating how this new legislation would impact the VCA if it were decided to go down this path and how the costs of incorporation would be met with current revenue streams.

The Executive at this juncture does not wish to encourage incorporation. We assess that would impose inordinate costs on the VCA, inflict significant auditing costs and be of limited benefit as a non-profit organization. There has been added investigation regarding Officer and Director Insurance and the implementing of this protection is imminent. All Residents of the Village had an opportunity to attend the meeting hosted by John Hawley and TND. The history and status of the Village Codes was detailed to all in attendance. The Executive felt that this was an important step in helping to clearly understand the Codes and their administration. As the legal responsibility rests with the developers it presents the community with a set of careful considerations that need a broader range of discussions.

This process is taking much longer than any of us expected and we feel that at this time we should post the Report to the VCA website for all Village residents to review and evaluate. Your VCA Executive will continue to study the Report and its recommendations over the winter and we look forward to discussing the Report with all Village residents in the spring.

Once again we would like to thank the Forward Planning Committee for their work on the Report.

Compliments of the season
