VCA 2019 Golf Day
Wednesday, September 4
Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Course
The VCA 2019 Golf Day was a tremendous success. 62 golfers (some for the first time) and an additional 31 for dinner. Friends and neighbours shared laughter, comradery and a little healthy competition. Special thanks go out to Mary Taylor and Margie Churchill, the co-chairs of this event.
A big thank you to those making prize donations — Billy Simkin and the NOTL Golf Course, the VCA Social Committee, Dave Antaya, Mary Taylor and Chris Mori (Bravo Niagara).
Volunteers at the ready
The Social Committee (Mary Taylor, Margie Churchill, Cindy Durdan, Heidi Brown, Cathy Saytar & Judy Huntington-Mackay) offer a big round of applause to our 7 volunteers – Merion Clement, Tina Clement, Rita Skelton, Luba Fraser for helping with promotion and registration; John & Fran Anderson for help with promotion and the putting contest; and Sue Henry for her hard work sending out numerous newsletters and reminders on our behalf, and for acting as photographer for the day.
And they’re off!
The Putting Contest!
The cheering for neighbours and friends could be heard down the block. While Doug Klotz and Peter Falconer gave our Men’s Winner, Greg Taylor, a run for his money, no one came close to our Ladies’ Winner, Mary Taylor. Perhaps next year the antique putter will be put into play a little earlier.
After Dinner Awards
And there were winners!
Overall Winning Team: Deb & Paul Macdonnel, Sheila Buck and Peter Falconer
Most Honest Team: While there was another team tied for this prestigious award, a coin flip gave it to the team of Wendy & Jim Filyer and Heather & Craig Kozak.
Closest to the Pin: A tie – Russ Garrard and Dave Antaya
Longest Drive (Female): Diana Dimmer
Longest Drive (Male): Larry Platt
After Dinner Prizes
Door prizes were won by Sally Harmer, Alan Gearing, Kim McKenzie, Mike Carruthers, Rose Garrard, Fran Anderson, Bill Barber, Diana Dimmer, Diane Walker, Greg Fedoryn, Sheila Buck and George Rivers.
Thanks to our wonderful community for making the 2019 Golf Day a huge success!
